The objective of this class is to utilize colored pencil and pastel techniques in order to explore our inner message by being inspired through the beauty in life. We will learn to merge the techniques used in realism with symbolic conceptual expressions using color pencil and pastel as a medium

SKILLS TAUGHT:

• Understanding and use of Depth and Perspective to create space
• Lighting & Shadow through silhouettes, reflections, light sources
• Developing Composition by seeing space and building a picture within the space
• Use of color through blending, understanding color theory and the difference between color and tone

MATERIAL: colored pencil, pastels, textured brown paper

PAINTING AS INSPIRED BY LESSONS/STORIES FOUND IN THE TORAH

Age: Adults, 16+ years

SYNOPSIS:

While building painting skill techniques, the student meditates upon a lesson found in torah which inspires them to create a space (landscape) then to fill it with a meaningful still life. Creating the feeling and illustrating these sacred lessons.

SKILLS TAUGHT:

• Depth and perspectives by finding appropriate angles
• Lighting & Shadow through silhouettes, reflections, light sources
• Developing Composition by seeing space and building a picture within the space
• Use of color through blending, understanding color theory and the difference between color and tone
• Creating Texture through use of different brushes and palette knife

MATERIALS: water soluble oil paints, canvas, carry easel, brushes
